Brand, web, and icon language for IAM
Outcome
A startup’s formal brand style guide, its website and an icon language of 100+ icons.
The brief
Strivacity needed a coherent brand and web presence for an IAM (identity and access management) product — a category that defaults to either generic “security blue” or visual noise. The constraint was startup speed with enterprise credibility: the brand had to feel precise, trustworthy, and usable across product and marketing surfaces.
My role
Sr. Contractor focused on UX, interface, and graphics. Ownership included:
- Brand style guide foundations
- Website design and structure
- Icon language (100+ icons) for product and marketing use
- Interface and graphic systems aligned to IAM product context
Process
- Clarify the brand job — Trust and clarity for IAM buyers; avoid startup decoration that undercuts enterprise seriousness.
- System before assets — Style guide rules that could scale past a single launch page.
- Icon language as product UI — 100+ icons designed as a coherent vocabulary, not a clip-art dump.
- Web as proof — Site IA and layout that demonstrated the product’s clarity rather than only describing it.
- Craft under deadline — Enough rigor to survive reuse; enough speed to ship.
The system
Sitemap, home, role pages and prototype frames from the marketing site system.
Detail & identity
Brand foundations, the icon vocabulary and interface details that carried the system from site to product.
Outcome
Established a formal brand style guide, then designed the website, including an iconography language of over 100 icons, working closely with Strivacity’s Chief Operating Officer.
